Keep Adding On To Your Knife Collection
A good chef needs a good Japanese Nakiri knife and while the best knives are expensive, they are going to last a lifetime. It’s also not just a good chef who needs a few good Japanese knives; it’s all cooks, all people who spend time in the kitchen, and all beginner cooks too. A good knife or two makes all the difference to cooking, and the enjoyment of cooking. It also makes a huge difference to the way the food looks, to the preparation of the food, and the overall success of the food.
How to collect knives
Start slowly. Knives are not expensive and although a Nakiri knife
online is usually at a good price, it is still an investment. Buy one knife
and when you can afford it, buy another. It’s okay to buy a knife
every six months or so. Start with a general Chef’s Knife, also known as a
Utility Knife, and thereafter get the specialist knives you need. There are
different knives for meat, chicken, fish and vegetables, and there are
different knives for chopping, slicing, dicing, deboning, skinning, cutting and
more!
A knife makes a great present for someone who is just setting up a new
kitchen. There is a superstition that when you gift a person a knife, you
should add a coin to the gift. We are not sure where the superstition comes
from, but we suggest you do this, for fun, and perhaps add a knife sharpener
too. Knife sharpeners are always useful, and although a good Japanese knife
does not need sharpening often, it will need it from time to time.
Go to a specialist knife store or kitchen store, or look for a Japanese
knife store that is online and sells a selection of Japanese knives including
the Japanese Nakiri knife Australia. Buy wholesale if you can!
